Barack Hussein Obama

Last month I wrote about attempts to use Barack Obama’s middle name as a slur—as in B. Hussein Obama.

With Obama’s election, those attempts have failed.

I concluded: “And who knows? Maybe when Obama is sworn in as president, he’ll use these words: “I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear…”

Guess what? That’s exactly what he plans to do, he said in a joint interview with the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times that was published yesterday.

“I think the tradition is that they use all three names, and I will follow the tradition,” he said. “I’m not trying to make a statement one way or another. I’ll do what everybody else does.’’

Obama also said expected to follow through on a campaign promise and give a speech in a Muslim capital.

“I think we’ve got a unique opportunity to reboot America’s image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular,” he said.
