Getting rid of plastic bags

November
7

Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants a bag tax.

He’s proposing that shoppers get charged 5 cents for every plastic bag they pick up at the check out couner.

The plan would raise $16 million plus clean up the landscape.

It’s a great idea, no matter how much people squawk.

One question: What if you use those bags as garage bags? Maybe stores around here will now start selling the biodegradable ones. I’ve seen mixed reviews.

I live in an appartment building that those bags are used everyday for garbage that gose down a “shoot” so that I don’t have to take a full size garbage to the trash room.
How’s it going to work??? you bag after you cash-out? pay again after you’ve double baged your shopping???
I like what Stew Lenard’s has at the entrance to there store, a drop-off bin for used plastic bags!!
Funny people poked fun of the old “paper” bag but the were the best! They made the best book covers! now bring them back with a handle and you’ve got something!!
