Salute to the services

May
26

Today is Memorial Day, a time to honor the men and women who died protecting our country and our freedom.

And as New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg noted this weekend, it is Fleet Week. Thousands of sailors, Marines and members of the Coast Guard are in town aboard the ships on which they serve.

So if you happen to be in New York City, you can head over to the piers along the Hudson River to see the ships.

And as Bloomberg said on a radio address:

“If you do happen to run into any of our brave service members, don’t hesitate to say ‘thank you.’ A few simple words will go a long way – and will remind them that we appreciate their incredible sacrifices and that we will always be by their side.”
